Project information
For this project, it was necessary to select a theme and build a story from it, and then generate conceptual art through multiple explorations in the design and composition process.
“John Rogers, a 63-year-old American man who devotes his life to farming, crop production, and animal care, has begun to notice paranormal events throughout his farm.
Animals disappear, crops are found damaged, and he has recently noticed strange symbols in the crops, until the night of September 28th, when he had to flee at 1:11 AM as his farm was invaded by violent alien ships that were destroying everything in their path. His only chance of survival is on his tractor through the cornfields.”
Initially, the project begins by developing an influences map, where the main references related to prop design, ambiance, genre, and style are taken.
Once the collected reference material is available, multiple proposals are made for the silhouettes of the most relevant objects in the composition.
Likewise, multiple thumbnail proposals were worked on until a composition that worked well was reached.
The scene was composed in 3D in Autodesk Maya and subsequently worked on in terms of perspective in Adobe Photoshop.
Finally, digital painting and coloring work was done in Adobe Photoshop to achieve the final result.
